§ 1-8006. Time of taking office; contested election.

  • (a)

    Candidates who receive the highest number of votes in the election in May, 1999 will be duly installed to the office at the first regular council meeting in July following the election. Candidates who receive the highest number of votes in the election in November, 2000 will be duly installed to the office at the first regular council meeting in December following the election. Candidates who receive the highest number of votes in the election in May, 2001 will be duly installed to the office at the first regular council meeting in July following the election. Candidates who receive the highest number of votes in all elections thereafter, which elections shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of the month of November, will be duly installed to the office at the first regular council meeting in December following the election.

    (b)

    If the results of the election are contested, the incumbent who fills that contested office shall hold over until the contest is finally determined.
