§ 1-7002. Judge; appointment; tenure; compensation.

  • The court shall be presided over by a judge. The municipal judge shall be appointed by council for a term of two (2) years. The assistant municipal court judge shall also be appointed by council for a term of two (2) years. The initial appointment shall be for a term to expire August 1, 1983. Thereafter, appointments shall be for terms of two (2) years. Council shall appoint one or more assistant judges to serve in the temporary absence or legal incapacity of the municipal court judge. The compensation of the judges shall be as from time to time determined by council. Vacancies shall be filled in accordance with South Carolina Code, Section 14-25-25.
